EVERYTHING’S CHANGING. In an effort to further alienate a prospective audience, I’m giving Substack a try. I’ll be using the platform to post longer, more involved essays. Some of which I might actually think about.
In a total affront to this site’s driving ethos of “armchair rhetoric”, some essays might even require things like research. I might even reject the “on extreme metal” clause of HM’s tagline and branch out into other topics, some maybe not even related to music. Eat nothing but peaches, the sky’s the limit.
This is all with a view to try and write better and more often. That’s the party line anyway. The real reason is to attract an audience beyond the modest brood of loathsome freaks that read Hate Meditations on the regular. I uncontrollably vomit for hours at the thought of monetising my hobbies. But I have been encouraged by multiple and completely unrelated individuals to consider it.
As well as the essays, Substack subscribers will get ad free access to episodes of the podcast and the Youtube videos (the goods ones anyway), along with video transcripts (when I can find them).
Reviews, podcasts, and semi-regular essays will still go up on the Wordpress site at the usual sporadic pace. Fear not. I’ve poured too much into the original Hate Meditations site over the years to let it whither on the vine. The Wordpress platform has been good to us over the years and has given me no reason to jump ship entirely.
I’ll post another update shortly announcing my abandonment of this venture and sincere hope that you erase it from your memory.
